If you aren’t careful, you’re looking at rusted parts or, worse, a short circuit. When we build our infrared heaters, we don’t just hope for the best. We focus on two things: keeping the water out and making sure the heat actually reaches you.
Stopping the Splash
Water doesn’t just cause electrical flickers. There’s a bigger problem called thermal shock. Imagine a freezing cold drop of water hitting a scorching hot quartz tube.**Crack.**That’s how you lose a lamp. To stop that from happening, we use high-grade silicone gaskets and sealed housings. We also tuck the sockets away in recessed areas and add protective guards. It keeps the water away from the guts of the machine. Just a heads-up: make sure your wiring is grounded properly. In a damp room, that’s not optional—it’s a must.
The War Against Fog
Ever noticed how your mirror fogs up the second you turn on the shower? The same thing happens to heater lenses. Warm, moist air hits the cooler surface, creates a film of water, and suddenly those infrared waves are blocked. You’re left standing in a cold bathroom with a heater that isn’t actually heating. Our fix? A hydrophobic coating. It sounds fancy, but it basically just means water can’t “stick” to the lens. Instead of a foggy film, the water beads up and rolls right off. It keeps the path clear so you actually feel the warmth on your skin.
The Balancing Act
Here’s the tricky part. If we seal the unit airtight to keep water out, we accidentally create an oven. The internal electronics start to cook themselves because the heat has nowhere to go. We solve this with a vented chassis. It’s a bit of a balancing act—letting air flow through to cool the electronics, but blocking water spray from getting inside. One thing to keep in mind: if you’re putting these in a tiny, cramped shower stall with zero airflow, the room is going to get hot. Fast. Make sure your bathroom’s fan can keep up with the heater’s wattage, or you might find the housing getting a bit too toasted.
