Most of the budget tubes you see out there use basic fused quartz. We went a different route. Our tubes are made from a reinforced, tempered blend that can actually handle those wild temperature swings you get in a shower. But here’s the real peace of mind: even if the tube does fail, it won’t spray shards of glass everywhere. The design keeps things controlled. It stays together, so nobody gets hurt. Dealing with the water
You’ve probably seen “IP65” on a spec sheet. In plain English? It means the unit is tight enough to keep out dust and can take a direct hit from a water jet without flinching. We use high-temp silicone gaskets to seal the electrical joints. This keeps moisture from sneaking into the wiring, which is how you avoid those annoying short circuits or ground faults. The tricky part is that you can’t just wrap a heater in plastic. The heat needs a way out, but the water needs to stay out. We figured out a way to create venting paths that let the infrared warmth flow through while blocking the water. Simple, but effective.
A few things to keep in mind
These heaters get hot—fast. Because the IP65 housing traps more heat than a wide-open heater would, we had to use heavy-duty wiring that won’t melt under the pressure. Also, a quick tip for the install: make sure your circuit breaker is ready for the initial surge when these lamps kick on. They hit hard and fast.
