There is nothing worse than stepping off a freezing workshop floor into a changing area and still feeling the chill in your bones. When your team is shivering, they aren’t thinking about productivity—they’re just trying to stop shaking. That’s why we go with ceiling-mounted infrared heaters. Instead of wasting time and money trying to heat the actual air in the room, these things go straight for the people and the benches. It’s basically instant. Most heaters try to push hot air around the room using fans and ducts. That takes forever. Infrared is different. It sends out energy that hits a solid object—like a worker—and turns into heat immediately. You don’t wait for the room to “warm up.” You just feel the heat the second you walk through the door. When we set these up, we look at how high the ceilings are and how cold the drafts get in the locker room. We usually pick shortwave or medium-wave emitters because they punch through the cold faster.
